Who I Treat
I treat adult and pediatric patients (ages 3-17) of all genders. I am committed to providing competent care to the LGBTQIA+ community. Pediatric patients under age 18 must have a legal guardian with them for the duration of the appointment.
How I Treat
Your treatment options will always be discussed with you and fully explained ahead of time. You will always be asked for consent for any treatment, and if you wish, alternatives can be discussed. I am committed to providing the best personal treatment plan for you. Treatment options may include.
Manual therapy is mobilization of joints, muscles, and connective tissue. It is often helpful after a surgery when scars are forming. It may also be helpful for reduction of pain or improving movement. Abdominal manual therapy does wonders for constipation. Options may include external or internal (vaginal or rectal) manual therapy as indicated. Pediatric patients only receive external manual therapy.
Therapeutic exercise is a physical therapist's main tool for improving function. We will talk about what you want to be doing and how we can get you there. I will create a gradual progression of movement activities to help you reach your goals.
Biofeedback uses an electromyogram (EMG) to read the activity of your muscles and display it on a computer for you. We work together to improve movement as you get real time visual feedback. An EMG of the pelvic floor muscles can be produced with an internal sensor (vaginal or rectal) or surface electrodes that are like stickers placed on each side of the anal sphincter. External electrodes are always used with pediatric patients. Adult patients will choose which type of sensor they would like after a discussion about the benefits of each.
Options for modalities may include electrical stimlation, heat, cold laser, ultrasound as indicated.
